We are Kobanzame, a vintage shop in an old wooden house in Kawagoe. A leather-clad glass bottle made by Chiarugi, a leather workshop in Florence, Italy, in the 1980s.
Its past life
A green glass bottle wrapped in leather, tooled with grapes and vine leaves, with a cord-bound neck. The base still carries a MADE IN ITALY stamp and the Chiarugi & C. s.r.l. Firenze label.
How to use it
About 22 cm tall, 18 cm at its widest, with a 10.5 cm base. The 2.2 cm mouth suits a single slender stem. Use it as a decanter for wine or olive oil, or leave it empty as an object. One on a shelf gives the corner the air of an old wine cellar.
Condition
The leather has faded with age, with scuffs and small losses. No cracks found in the glass. Forty years of use show plainly on its surface.
